A digital twin is the digital version of a physical product: a single place where verified information about its materials, production, care and more lives together. A PLM digital twin starts with the product data created in the PLM, and it comes to life once the product is for sale and the Digital Product Passport (DPP) makes that data available.
A digital twin is the online reflection of the physical product. It gathers the details that describe a style: materials, trims, suppliers, measurements, origins and care instructions. Because the information sits in one record rather than in scattered files, the same verified data can be shared with suppliers, retailers and customers. A QR code on the care label or an RFID chip in the garment is the way people and systems reach that record.
The DPP is part of the ESPR regulation, which came into force in 2024. It asks brands to make product data available to supply chain actors and to help consumers make informed choices. A digital twin is only as trustworthy as the data behind it, and it does not stop at product development. It comes to life when the product is on sale, often long after the product left the PLM, so it can also draw on other systems, such as order and transport data from the ERP.
Delogue does not offer a separate digital twin feature. It is where the physical product starts: the place where a product is born and where its materials, trims, suppliers, measurements, origins and care instructions are stored. That verified product data is the foundation of the digital twin, which other systems then build on. Read more about QR, RFID and the digital twin.
