BCORP B Corporation A score system, where a company needs to reach a min. of 80 points on an assessment. The assessments covers to a wide extend high social and environmental performance criteria. A company needs to change their way of working from value driven to purpose driven. The brand Fill out the Business Impact Assessment to reach the minimum 80 points. The assessment can help a company assess where improvements needs to be made to achieve enough points. B Lab If you want to be a company that is varified to meet the highest standards within social and environmental performance, and be a part of a network smaller group of companies, that has optained this. If your company is not ready to commit to the extremely extensive business run-through, where all aspects are closely looked at. BCI Better Cotton Initiative Through the BCI system farmers receive training on better practice. The BCI logo or packaging does not mean the product is made of physically traceable Better Cotton. It means that you’re buying a majority cotton product, from a retailer or brand that is committed to sourcing Better Cotton and investing in BCI Farmers The farming practices of cotton Document the use of minimum 10% BCI cotton in your production to be able to show the logo on your hangtags/website etc., with a plan to increase this to at least 50% Better Cotton within five years. BCI If you want to show on your hangtags that you are investing and supporting the initiativ of better cotton farming practices If your company wish to work with any of the other more extensive certifications with cotton farming such as Fairtrade ✔️ ✖️ ✖️ ✖️
- BlueSign Bluesign is a chemical management system throughout the processing stages of the supply chain. It ensures that there are no harmful chemicals present in each stages, and that the textile is traceable. It also has criterias for environmental impact and social criteria based on ILO. Raw material traceability throughout all processing stages including requirements on chemical input, environment and social requirements. Make sure to work with a factory/supplier who is BlueSign certified. Fullfill the mandatory requirements for a brand and become BlueSign certified through a certification body. SGS If your company wishes documentation and labelling products to show that your products are made under strict criteria - ensuring responsible chemical management, environmental and social critiera, and have markets that know about this standard. BSCI (Amfori) Business Social Compliance Initiative A 3rd party social audit program based on Amfori Code of Conduct 11 principles. With a BSCI Amfori membership companies can book annual 3rd party audits to ensure supply chain compliance. The BSCI yearly audit are also shared by suppliers/factories with other customers, which mean a membership is not a neccessity to be able to receive an audit report. - Fairtrade Fairtrade has a specific textile standard, that has high requirements for working conditions and environment at local producers. Raw material traceability from crop to final product including responsible practices on farm level Make sure to work with a factory/supplier who is fairtrade certified. Apply for a license agreement Fairtrade If your company is working primarily with conventional cotton, and you have a wish to switch to fairtrade and adding a well-known label onto final products. FSC Forest Stewardship Council A certification which confirms that the forest is being managed in a way that preserves biological diversity and benefits the lives of local people and workers, while ensuring it sustains economic viability Raw material traceability from source to brand including responsible practices on forest level Work with a factory/supplier who is FSC certified. Fullfill the mandatory requirements for a brand, and become FSC certified through a certification body. Control Union, Preferred by nature If your company is working primarily with none certified and none traceable materials that are, and wish to switch these to down where animal welfare and traceablity through the supply chain is ensured. GOTS Global Organic Textile Standard A standard for organic fibers (Cotton, wool, silk, linen and hemp) with high requirements within social, environmental and chemical aspects. A minimum of 70% must be certified organic fibers, and the remaining 30% also has strict requirements Strict requirements The whole processing part of the supply chain (so not the farming) Make sure to work with a factory/supplier who is GOTS certified. Fullfill the mandatory requirements for a brand and become GOTS certified through a certification body. Control Union, Ecocert If your company is working primarily with fibers such as conventional cotton, and you have a wish to switch to organic whilst ensuring that this aspects is documented If your company uses many blended fabrics (less than 70% organic fiber), and/or synthetic fibers, which will not be eligable for this certification. ✔️ ✔️ ✔️ ✔️
GRS Global Recycled Standard A standard for recycled content with high requirements within social, environmental and chemical aspects. A minimum of 50% must be certified recycled content for brand to be able to label logo on product. Strict requirements throughout the whole processing part of the supply chain Make sure to work with a factory/supplier who is GRS certified. Fullfill the mandatory requirements for a brand and become GRS certified through a certification body. Control Union, Ecocert If your company is working primarily with fibers such as virgin polyester, virgin nylon, blends with cotton/poly or similar and wish to switch these to recycled versions whilst ensuring the documentation of traceability is in order. If your company uses fibers that are not elligible for recycling such as 100% cotton, viscose, many differentt blended compositions ✔️ ✔️ ✔️ ✔️
- Leather Working Group An environmental and social audit for accessing the performance of leather manufacturing facilities/tanneries. The manufacturer/tanner and/or trader A brand/retails needs to be a member to be able to use the logo on brand and in marketing. 3rd party audit of manufacturer If want to ensure monitoring of your leather products, as this can be a very harmful industry. - Nordic Swan Label The Nordic Swan Ecolabel is an environmental labelling scheme certifying that a product or service complies with the requirements for the label. For textile products parameters for quality and reduced environmental impact is required. UN's ILO for workers must also be complied with in the production. Manufacturing license and a product license on the final product A brand needs to apply for a product or category that they wish to carry the Nordic Swan Label, and have a manufacturer who is licensed. Teknologisk Institut If your company wishes to ensure and label your products to help customers feel safe buying your products, whilst using factories that are compliant with the UN's ILO for workers rights. The label is well-known If you company doesn't work with fibers/textiles that are elligable for The Nordic Swan label. ✔️ ✔️ ✔️ ✖️
- Oekotex 100 A standard which ensures that the finished garment including all components (thread, zipper etc.) is testet for harmful substances The final product Make sure to work with a factory/supplier who is Oekotex certified. OCS Organic Content Standard A standard for organic fibers (Cotton, wool, silk, linen and hemp) where traceability through the supply chain in ensured. RCS Recycled Claim standard A standard for recycled content where traceability through the supply chain in ensured. Raw material traceability from source to brand Make sure to work with a factory/supplier who is RCS certified. Fullfill the mandatory requirements for a brand and become RCS certified through a certification body. RAS Responsible Alpaca Standard A standard for alpaca where traceability through the supply chain is ensured together with extensive high animal welfare standards and working conditions on the farm Raw material raceability from farm to brand including responsible practices on farm level Make sure to work with a factory/supplier who is RAS certified. Fullfill the mandatory requirements for a brand and become RAS certified through a certification body. Control Union, Ecocert If your company is working primarily none certified and none traceable alpaca, and wish to switch these to alpaca where animal welfare and traceablity through the supply chain is ensured. Fullfill the mandatory requirements for a brand and become RMS certified through a certification body. - SA8000 A social certification program based on internationally recognized standards of decent work, including the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, ILO conventions, and national laws. SA8000 applies a management-systems approach to social performance and emphasizes continual improvement—not checklist-style auditing. - SMETA (Sedex) A 3rd party social audit program. The SMETA yearly audit are shared by suppliers/factories with you, which mean a membership is not a neccessity to be able to receive an audit report.
